Wii Love it.. getting fit that is

I have longed to have some kind of exercise routine in my life, but with 5 kids and a work at home business it never seems like there is time. Hoping to find one that I loved and could actually stick to I have tried MANY different programs Yet, all I found were courses that were too difficult, bored me to tears or made me feel stupid doing them. So when I saw that Wii was coming out with a fitness game I couldn't wait.

I purchased my Wii Fit on the Wednesday it was released. It comes as a kit - a Wii Balance board and the Wii Fit disc. The balance board looks like a step board used for aerobics, but it is your main controller for the various exercises & games you play.

To start off the Wii Fit checks your BMI and helps you set your fitness goals. Offered then are 4 areas of training - Yoga, Strengthen Training, Aerobic & Balance games.

In the Yoga & Strength Training categories you are given a personal trainer to help teach you the various exercises and make sure you are doing them right. Also offered are Yoga & Strength Training combination suggestions, these help you utilize the combo to the max.

Aerobics has to be one of my favorite areas. You can do rhythm boxing, hula hooping or one of my 2 favorite options. Step aerobics & Basic run - both of these offer 3 different games. Step aerobics has a beginner, an advance course & free step, a option which allows you to exercise while waiting your favorite TV program. During free step the game offers a counter which tells you how much time you have left, how many steps you have taken & is all broadcasted through the Wii remote instead of you TV.

Put the Wii remote in your pocket & take a run through the park in your own living room. Basic Run offers 3 different games also: a one person game with a beginner, advanced and an the island run (approx.11 mins.) There is a 2 people run, for those who don't like to run alone. The only bad thing about this is only1 persons results are recorded. The final option is free run. The option is like free step, letting you running in your living room, while waiting TV. I haven't used that option yet, but I"m not sure I would like that. I have enjoyed the beautiful island scenery & it's fun to see other Miis from your family out in the park too.

Balance is the whole key to Wii Fit & finding your center is what Balance games is all about. Slalom Ski, Ski Jump, Snowboarding, Soccer Heading, Table Tilt, plus 4 more games are offered. They are challenging & fun, and have several levels for you to advance to.

My whole family has embraced the Wii Fit. So I can't not complain when my husband comes home at night & instead of sitting in front of the TV he actually is working out. Instead of the kids spending hours watching mindless TV they are improving the fitness levels, and each session has a timer so I know how long of a turn each child has had. I will have to say I love it too. The exercises are fun, but challenging and doesn't seem like you are working out. I definitely think I have invested my holiday money well. If you are looking to tone your body, lose a few pounds, or something fun to do with your family, this is it.

I do have one complaint though. Everyone loves it so much, I'm just wondering when will I get a turn? It is my Wii Fit : )

Work at home? Yes, I love it!

Being a WAHM of 5 is something I wouldn't trade for the world. It isn't something I've always been able to do though. When I was 20 I was blessed with my first child. I was also a Junior in college. Getting my BA and a good job to support my son was my main focus. I refused to be a mom who couldn't take care of her son. Upon graduation the pavement pounding began. I applied for every TV, radio, Newspaper and other media type job I could find. My lucky break came when someone I had met through my internship contacted me and offered me a fill in position at a local news/talk station. I started answering telephones & producing weekend talk shows. This then advanced to include some filing. Before I new it they needed some one to fill in in the news room. When my time was up I asked how much longer I should keep coming in the new director told me until they tell you not to. This lead to a full time job at the station and eventually a promotion to producer of the morning & evening drive time shows.
During this time I met my husband online, got married and had baby #2. I was a working mom, who was lucky to have her mother watching the baby so he didn't have to go into daycare. I loved my job, no let me rephrase that I sold my soul to my job. I would have done anything for that company. I wanted to be one of those ppl who retired from the company after 30+ years or whatever. My job rocked. However in exchange for my rocking job I missed my 2 sons growing up. Then in May 2000 my rocking job came to a halt. The company I work for had gone through many owners and we had just been purchased again. Time to clean house, I (un)fortunately was one of the many to be laid off. My whole world came crashing down. Within the last 4 years I had gotten married, had a baby, had both my father & grandfather died (w/in a wk of each other) and now lost my job. My job that was my life, ripped away. I was devastated. It was then I decided I would NOT work for another company. I was not going to put my heart & soul into someone else company who didn't even care about me. Plus I HAD missed SO much & it broke my heart that I had not been there. So I started my own company webmonsters.com I did web designs for some radio people. This was a bad idea. I was already burnt out, plus I had all these stressers on me taking on a new business was not a good idea. I lost lots of sleep, money and time. Plus i ended up HATING web design. I would not touch a computer in a creative sense. In fact it took me a LONG time before I started designing anything.

In the fall of 2002 my youngest son (at the time) was going to go to preschool. This was going to be the opportunity for me to get a part time job, go back to school, something for me. Yet, that was not going to be part of the master plan because in the Spring 2003 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Approx 16 months later I had our second beautiful daughter. Well I was now definitely not going anywhere (especially after seeing how much of my paycheck would just go directly to childcare). Well we have since been blessed with baby boy #5, and I'm not going anywhere.

Why am I telling you all this? My twitter friend Melody @ Exposed, the Watkins Lady’s secret life! Blog Meme'd me. A friend of hers Kelley(“This Is Why I Love To Work at Home”) started this Blog Meme for WAHMs. So if you are a work at home Mom then tag, you’re next so join in the fun and tell us & don’t forget to link back to this page.

What about my answers to the question,"Why do I love working at home?"

Here you go:

  1. I set my own hours. If I want to go to the zoo w/ the kids I can. If I want to put off work until the kidlets are sleeping, not a problem. I love flex hours and I'm not going to get these many other places.
  2. I don't have to get dressed up. I can through on my jeans and tennis shoes and I'm good to go. NO dress code is great, especially when you want to sit in bed, typing on your laptop in your pj pants : ) (Guilty!)
  3. The money I make is not going to daycare. If I worked out of the home, it would be simply to pay daycare & not helping us get ahead. Seems pointless.
  4. I get to do something I love. I help people promote something they love - their business with my business. How great!
  5. I get to spend time with my family. I get to see the baby grow up, go on field trips and not have to take time off if someone is sick.
  6. My soul belongs to me. I devoted so much to the radio station, now the person who I answer to is me. All my hard work & devotion is for my family not the company store.
Now I'm going to tag 3 WAHMs first is my friend Stephani @ StephaniPartin.com then WiseKaren @ verbatim and Tisha @ TishiaLee.com Go check out these 3 ladies wonderful blogs. I can't wait to see everyones answers.
